My, you talk pretty. Do you have any evidence other than than your opinion, that since you don't know why Putin invaded Ukraine, he made a massive mistake?

Don't let your contempt for, and dislike of, Putin color your analysis. Don't assume, that because you cannot understand what he is doing, he must be failing.

You don't know why he invaded Ukraine.

You assert without evidence that he is "corrupt and flailing about". How do you know this?

I worked at NSA in the 90's writing threat assessments. Putin may be "corrupt" in the sense of using his position for personal gain. But he has never in his life seemed "corrupt" in the sense of decadent or depraved.

Throughout his life he has been characterized by intense focus, will to succeed, and complete ruthlessness. You seem to see a tottering dotard, with a feeble grasp of reality, and delusions of grandeur.

I see a second Stalin. A man whose grip on his country, and its people, is absolute.

Perhaps he is delusional. I wouldn't bet on it.

You seem to think Russia is going to collapse any old day now. That it's all about economics and that "no economy on the planet is sovereign".

Really?

Think about how long has Iran been under international sanctions. See any signs that Iran is about to have a regime change?

Russia may not have a huge economy, but if they hold onto Ukraine they will control one third of the global wheat supply. Even if you don't accept that we are on the brink of a massive climate crisis, which is going to cause 800 million to 1.5 billion deaths over the next five years, control over that much of the global food supply is a huge strategic prize.

I think it's one Putin is willing to pay the price for.

Because the Climate Crisis is upon us “right now”.

In Ukraine we are seeing the first war of the “Climate Crisis”.

Agricultural output failures of 40% are already happening.

Putin’s Strategy is coming into view. If you weren’t clear on it, World War III has started.

If you suggest that the war in Ukraine is related to Climate Change, people tell you Putin doesn’t care about “Climate Change” -- People are idiots.

It really is “Now or Never”; the choices are “managed retreat” or “uncontrolled collapse”. Ukraine is what “uncontrolled collapse” looks like.
