Hansen dropped a new paper this morning. Let’s UNPACK what it MEANS.

There are two reasons why the present warming is small: First, present warming is only a fraction of the equilibrium warming, because of the ocean’s great thermal inertia. Even after 100 years the expected response to our forcing is only about 60% of of Hansen’s forecast of +4.8°C ± 1.2°C. This means, IT WILL GET WARMER NO MATTER WE DO NOW. That “extra” 40% is “baked in”
