Yeah, all those wildfires in Siberia, the melting permafrost, the methane sinkholes, the heatwaves, and the weird weather in Russia are probably going right past him. He probably doesn't know a thing about global warming and climate change.

I'm sure he doesn't think about future weather projections and agricultural output projections when he considers his geopolitical moves. This was probably just part of a long term plan.

He thought, "Russia needs to be cut off and isolated from the rest of the world for awhile". It will be good for us to be more self reliant and less open to foreign influences. I'm sure the Oligarchs won't mind spending more time at home.

"Everyone is going to thank me for this, it will be great."

I think Putin understands exactly what the implications of the current climate scenario are. I think this is his reaction to it. As an analyst it's the only thing that makes sense.
