Wow, so many comments here from people who should know better. Let's start reviewing the numbers, because despite what some of you seem to think, in this country power goes to the party that wins elections.
Let's start with the BIG uncomfortable truth that none of you seem to ever acknowledge. American politics is about race. That's what has decided our political choices in this country for the last 50 years.
We live in a WHITE dominated society and 2 out of 3 White voters, votes Republican. THEY HAVE SINCE THE F'ING 80'S.
The last Democratic president to win the majority of the White vote was LBJ. He made the Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights Act happen. Since then not one single Democrat has won a majority of the White vote in this country.
Not one.
Know why?
Because Democrats are a minority party in the US. For the last 50 years they have been the "loyal opposition" party. Struggling against Republican dominance of our politics.
1968 -1992 is 24 years. 20 of them were Republican dominated. Remember McGovern, Mondale, and Dukakis? All progressive Democrats, Dukakis chose a woman for his running mate.
All losers.
Because the Republicans got most of the White vote and that's what wins elections in America. You know how Clinton won in 92'?
Not by "selling out". By being a little more Centrist so that he got a few more White votes and getting lucky that Ross Perot split the White Republican vote on 92' and 96'.
Clinton won in 92' with 43% of the vote. Not a majority, he won with a plurality of the vote in a 3 way split vote.
Every Democrat in the country, the entire multiracial coalition, turned out for Clinton in 92' and he got 43% of the vote. Because 57% of the vote was White and voting for Bush or Perot.
In the highest election turnout ever in 2020, Biden beat Trump.
BIDEN 51%, TRUMP 49%
We have a slim majority of the country on our side. 2 out of 3 White voters vehemently oppose everything we want to do and at least 2% of that 51% are "squishy" White voters who normally vote Republican.
They are probably going to vote Republican again in 22' and 24'.
Because American politics is about race and White voters overwhelming reject Progressive ideals and policies. If you push forward without big majorities in the House and Senate you will get voted out of power.
Our political situation right now is one of cold civil war. The Trumpublican’s face shrinking numbers and a Climate situation that's about to blow up on them. In 4 more years their party is going to implode.
This is their last push, if they can take power they will try to hold onto it and they have made it clear the gloves will be off. If you want to avoid that then we need to hold the line and vote Blue no matter who.
If you are too willfully blind to not understand that, then the Trumpublican’s deserve to win.
