Wow, most people don't drill down this far. Kudos for that.

Mitch and I have been having some good exchanges. Mitch writes some very good stuff and we agree on a lot.

This piece has him freaking out a bit. He lives in FL. He should be.

However, if you live in a decent location right now moving to Maine might not be a great idea. Long term, maybe yes. But right now, not so sure.

Maine, like Vermont has some Climate Risk advantages. However, the government is not as good and its mostly rural and heavily wooded. A bad combination.

This isn't just about heat. It's also about the community you embed into. You want to be someplace with solid government and a community that's likely to pull together.

Instead of fracturing into a bunch of gun toting "survivalist preppers". Each with their own bunker and hoard. Ready to kill anyone who sets foot on their land. Who refuse to help anyone else or cooperate with authorities because they are "free men" or some such bullshit.

I think you would get a lot of that in Maine. But I could be biased. It's been many decades since I was there. Things change. Plus, being around family is good.

Still, I am an urbanite and I like cities. I think people overvalue the whole "back to the land" thing. It's not easy. To me, that's a very worst case scenario.

We're not there yet. At least not in the US.
