Umair wrote a really tight piece recently about why the Alt-Right is winning. He pointed out that they have three things going for them.
They are unified in purpose.
They are organized.
They are well funded (by Right Wing elites and corporations).
Historically, when a group gets these things in place, they take over. Which is absolutely true. Umair is spot on about this.
What that means, how bad it will be, is a subject of great uncertainty. The safe money is usually to not panic. Things usually work themselves out without death camps, gulags, killing fields, pograms, lynchings, Rwanda style massacres, and bombs being dropped on Black Wallstreet in Oklahoma.
Those are extreme events, that do sometimes happen. The safe money is usually right. But not always.
Make sure your passport is up to date. Think about where you might go if you wanted to leave suddenly. Make sure everyone knows where the "rally point" is in case you are in separate places when you have to go.
It's probably not a bad idea to be thinking about things like that. Just in case. Because really bad things happen sometimes.
