Total, complete, agreement. I don't know what this is about but it needs to stop. I noticed it a few years ago when the book "The Uninhabitable Earth" came out.

Lot's of "Climate Activists" went after Wallace-Wells for being "too negative". Despite the book being meticulously researched they labeled it "Doomer Porn". It blew my mind.

Since then, I have noticed a real hardening of attitudes among Climate Activists here on Medium. There seems to be this "group think" that "if you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem".

As a "Global Warming Evangelist" since the fucking 80's I find it hysterically funny that I am now "part of the problem" with my negativity.

I am starting a new publication dedicated to covering the current "Climate Crisis". In my first piece I revisit Greenland.

Two years ago it was announced that it has gone "beyond the point of no return" and is going to completely melt. This means 20 feet of sea level rise.

Not to worry though. We were told the models indicated that this melting would probably take about 1,000 years.

On Feb 22nd this paper was released.

Rapid basal melting of the Greenland Ice Sheet from surface meltwater drainage: PNAS February 22, 2022

Turns out, the models were off. Greenland is melting 5-10X faster than we thought.

Expect 10-12 feet of sea level rise by 2100.

Expect 2-3 feet of sea level rise by 2050.

We don’t know anymore how long Greenland will take to melt. Because every time we adjust our models, something new happens.

That should scare you. Because it could happen very quickly.

We could get 12 feet of sea level rise from Greenland by 2100. That “fast melt” scenario usually results in most of the world’s coastal cities being “drowned”. Including the ports that are the nodal points of the global supply chain.

But if you say that the “Climate Crisis” has started, you become a “Doomer” crazy person.

Right now, I am “the lunatic fringe” of serious climate writers.

I am forecasting fatalities between 800 million and 1.5 billion over the next five years.

At this time, I am alone in this forecast.

No other agency or analyst publicly agrees with me at this time. Even those who are warning of a “food crisis” because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, are not projecting famine deaths in the tens of millions.

If you want to know how bad it really has gotten.
