The Coronavirus Task Force Discourages Testing: The Testing Situation must be Worse than We Thought. Notes on the “Daily Briefing”.

Nurses carrying patient on stretcher, Spanish Flu Pandemic 1918

It’s 1:25 PM and I’m in shock at what I’m hearing from the mouth of VP Pence.

He’s saying, “if you don’t have symptoms, you don’t need to be tested”.

This is stunning.

What’s worse, the health care professionals are backing him up. They are being very reassuring about how many tests have been done, and how testing is ramping up, so that we are, “turning the corner on this situation”. But they are totally discouraging people from trying to be tested.

Fauci just said that if you go and get tested, “you are forcing the health system to use up PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) that is in short supply” and that testing would be “prioritized for health care professionals and those at highest risk”.

Then some “Unknown Trump Loyalist Hack Acting Secretary of Some Department” came up and after the obligatory praise of Trump said that, “the shortages of masks was a temporary situation, that was being resolved” and that “millions of masks” were about to flood into the supply chain.

My entire life can be described in one sentence: Things didn’t go as planned, and I’m OK with that.
