This is an excellent point and a very astute observation. Places getting damaged or destroyed now, may never be rebuilt. We have moved into a period when things and places are going to be "written off" and abandoned.
Right now it's Ukraine and Turkey. Over the rest of this decade it will increasingly be here in the US.
I think Collapse is the most probable outcome given the current "state of play". Almost everyone disagrees with that assessment.
As I mentioned to Jo Lis in a discussion of the "Lunar Dust" study. The Biden Administration is allocating 5 years for PROPOSALS on possible "Rapid Climate Intervention" projects. That suggests they think we have 15-20 years before Rapid Climate Intervention becomes urgent.
Everyone, except the Russians and the Chinese, is acting like they think we have at least another decade before things get significantly worse. I think they are wrong.
In a year we will know the shape of "Things to Come". (1936 movie based on 1933 HG Wells book). I'm not optimistic.
