The sum of warming caused by the various greenhouse gases is now at 1.5C.

Sulphur dioxide pollution is masking this warming by cooling the planet down by about 0.5C.

How warm is the Earth?

The 1.1C of "observed warming" or the 1.5-2.0C of actual warming?

When the IPCC says 1.1C they are talking about "observed" warming. They are playing word games to make the amount of warming seem smaller. Because all of the cooling effect of the sulfur dioxide goes away in 3-4 years if we stop putting it into the air.

Their plan is that we will keep polluting the air with sulphur dioxide "for the rest of this century" while we develop technology to remove CO2 from the air and sequester it in rock formations.

This miracle tech must be efficient, cheap, and low energy. Their plan is too build 10's of thousands of CO2 removal plants around the world from 2050-2100 and then suck out enough CO2 to bring down the level to around 320ppm again.

Then we can stop cooling the Earth with sulfur dioxide.

I ask you, does this seem like a plan that can work?

All of the IPCC plans going forward now require geoengineering to cool the planet and carbon removal and sequestration to get us below 360ppm of CO2 in the atmosphere again. That's whats in the fine print of the reports.

That's how they are "keeping the hope of 1.5C alive".

Which is my main beef with the IPCC, they are gaslighting us to make things seem better than they actually are. I think that we all need to clearly understand what's going on if we want to create a workable plan going forward. They think they can minimize social disruption and manage an orderly transition by telling everyone that "we can do this" and discouraging you from looking behind the curtain.
