The Crisis Report — 62

A snapshot analysis.

As an autistic teen I fell in love with photography. It was a way to socially participate that was still distanced and removed. It allowed me to be an observer on the fringe of things, participating in them without emotional investment or involvement in their outcome.

Canada has already started burning this year.

Manitoba declared a province-wide state of emergency late last Wednesday as the province experienced its worst start to a wildfire season in years. On Thursday, the western Canadian province of Saskatchewan also declared a wildfire emergency.

On Friday, 175 active fires were burning, of which 95 were out of control, according to the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre.

These fires have CONSEQUENCES.

One of the first is the smoke they produce.

This smoke is extremely unhealthy for both plants and people. It can stunt plant growth and cause forests to “shut down” their carbon uptake. It gets in people's lungs and affects them pretty much the same way smoking does. Without the nicotine “rush”.

My entire life can be described in one sentence: Things didn’t go as planned, and I’m OK with that.
