That's really well put. FYI, I have appreciated your readership over the last 2 years. Also keep in mind that this isn't "the end of days".
Even in safe countries food is going to get expensive and variety is going to go way down but few of us are going to starve to death. Most of the dying is going to be done by those already food insecure and vulnerable.
This is a massive catastrophe but I don't think it will be bad enough to trigger a collapse.
Still, this is the end of a golden age. There may never be as many humans alive at one time again. Our arts, sciences, and culture have had a great florescence but going forward, more and more of our efforts are going to spent fighting against collapse.
I'm not sure what to do with this knowledge. I'm still coming to terms with it. I've thought about this for decades but I never thought it would come so soon.
