SOx aerosols are pretty much the only thing we have 'on deck' and ready to go. If we try geoengineering that's what will be used.

It's cheap, it's easy, and we know it works.

Simply putting it back into marine diesel could lower the GMST by the +0.5°C that we just warmed up and buy us a decade. There would be CONSEQUENCES in terms of massive flooding and insane weather for 3-5 years. But, it would buy us some time.

Doing it "long term" would require a more global approach/effort. See Elizabeth Kolbert's book "Under a White Sky" for a discussion of that.

We would literally have to turn the sky WHITE with aerosols for several hundred years while we reduced the CO2 level.
