No Place is Safe.
Your personal experience in Argentina makes this clear. You are actually in a sheltered spot. It will be a "better" place to be as the world warms up. So, will Asheville.
That doesn't mean it's not going to get hammered along the way.
Even the "better" places to be in are going to go through rapid warming. With that is going to come ecosystem turnover and fires. As you point out, no matter where you go, the air will be "wetter" and extreme rain events more likely.
Even safe places can/will burn and flood.
FEMA estimates that less than 1% of the homes lost in Asheville were covered by flood insurance. Regular homeowners insurance probably isn't going to cover rebuilding and may not even cover possessions lost due to flood.
This is WHY, a strong capable government that is equipped to deal with disasters like this, will be ESSENTIAL in the years to come.
