Really good piece that looks at the "bigger picture" of Climate Change. What does a sustainable world and culture look like?
The thing that surprises most people is that we don't have a clue.
We basically have just one example of a sustainable long term human culture; the Australian Aboriginal Culture. They inhabited the same land for over 55,000 years without destroying it. However, it is not a lifestyle that most of us would enjoy and 95% of us would have to die to make it possible for the survivors to live like that.
So, what does a sustainable, technic, high population global culture look like? Is it even possible?
We desperately need answers to these questions. We desperately need a true global dialog and agreement on what that should be like and how we might get there.
Because if we keep doing "business as usual" we will be like the Vikings of Greenland. The ones who kept doing the same things as their environment progressively got colder and more hostile.
They kept doing BaU right up to the day they all died. Without revolutionary transformative change we will go down the same road.
