People can be willfully blind but, they aren't stupid.

In polls, something like 73% say they are concerned about Climate Change.

However.

Only 23% expect to experience the effects of Climate Change "in their lifetime".

It's easy to see this as stupidity and ignorance at play. But, that's what Mainstream Climate Science is telling them as well.

The Fossil Fuel industry doesn't have to lie about the effects of CO2, its position agrees with Mainstream Climate Science. It has, since the Woods Hole Climate Summit in 1979.

Disagreeing with that is what makes one a "Doomer", "Descent Realist", or "crazy".

People WANT to believe in the FUTURE that the Hannah Ritchies' of the world are selling. Mainstream Climate Science tells them that they can.

When that belief collapses the social effects are going to be profound.
