Not to pile on or anything. There is also a plant mass extinction event happening. What we all sorta assumed was that plants would migrate North as the Climate warmed.

What we didn't foresee was that the North would warm up first. All of the Boreal forests are dying and burning right now. Many of those species will go extinct because they will no longer have a habitat.

If warming was happening at the normal interglacial rate of 1C/1000years the plants in the mid latitudes would have time to migrate North as the Earth warmed. Instead we are warming the earth at a rate of 1C in the next 25-30 years.

Do you really think most of the Earth's vegetation can "migrate" to cooler climes in that time frame?

There is about to be a massive die back in plant species. In 100 years the world will be infested with weed species like tumbleweeds and the oceans will be filled with only algae, jellyfish, and squid.
