No, we CAN save ourselves Mike. I'm not writing as a gloomy Eeyore simply chronically the COLLAPSE.

There are things we can/should be doing that could save our civilization and perhaps allow continuity to be preserved. However these things are GLOBAL in SCALE and SCOPE. They would require large restructurings of our world, both socially and materially.

We WILL NOT do these things unless everyone understands how DESPERATE the situation really has become. We are clinging to the illusion that we can manage this through "tax rebates" and "consumer incentives". Gradually transitioning to a "techno utopia" like that in Star Trek.

Democracy doesn't have to FAIL. But it will have to crack down on those who aren't willing to accept the policies that will HAVE to be implemented.

Until the MAJORITY let go of the fantasy, voices like ours are indeed "voices in the wilderness".
