Men are not "evolving" that's for certain. When I was younger I really expected revolutionary changes in gender roles and the emergence of new gender possibilities in the way human beings related to each other.

I was a huge fan of Ian Banks and his "Culture" sci-fi novels. Partly because he imagined a future of complete choice in body identity. In a world where your physical form was discretionary, gender becomes irrelevant.

As I aged, I have had to adjust my desires to fit reality. I don't recall if you read it but I wrote this last year in response to something Jessica Wildflower wrote.

Random Thoughts — 03 : We still live in a sexist culture, waiting for the paradigm to shift can feel like “Waiting for Godot”

Perhaps we simply feel the dissatisfaction of still "being in the Wilderness". Perhaps a new paradigm is about to emerge.

Or perhaps not.

With age and deteriorating health I find I have become increasingly pessimistic about the future.

My entire life can be described in one sentence: Things didn’t go as planned, and I’m OK with that.
