The "OBSERVABLE global average temperature" is 1.2C over the preindustrial baseline.

This is an important point. It is estimated that our sulfur dioxide emissions SOx have been cooling the planet by anywhere from 0.4C (IPCC estimate) to 0.7C (Hansen and others).

We have been geoengineering the planet for decades by increasing the planetary albedo with our emissions.
