I don't know if I would view it that way. It sets the two as polar opposites on some sort of linear scale. What's in the middle?

It's also pejorative because there is an assumption that SCIENCE is better than RELIGION. The axis really has this SCIENCE (fact based) / RELIGION (irrational superstition) subtext to it.
It puts the two in opposition, unnecessarily I think.
Both SCIENCE and RELIGION are about stories. Both seek to explain the reality we exist in.
SCIENCE is privileged over RELIGION in people's minds because they see it as "fact based". Another way of looking at it, is that SCIENCE is the religion of those incapable of faith.
