Last thought, before moving on.

Neither the author, I, or Wikipedia is mentioning something really important about Wilson. We are all discreetly leaving it for you to find out by yourself.

Robert Anton Wilson was EXTREMELY KINKY.

The Illuminatus! Trilogy is one of the most sexually eye opening things I have ever read. To this day.

More to follow...

Wilson and Shea(?) wrote answers for Playboy's "Letters to the Editor" column. They had a wealth of material to draw on.

It's hard to convey how mind blowing these books were at the time. The heroes in this “Hero's Journey" manage to encounter every possible human sexual activity imaginable. Often in graphic detail.

This was subversive and mind blowing for a whole bunch of people who read these books. It served Wilson's purpose of opening people's minds, titillating them, and outraging them.

In a way, the books are a type of "performance piece".

In any case, they are a modern, fun, consensual, sci-fi, Discordant, Anarchist, Libertarian, incredibly sexual, version of DeSade's "Justine". That aspect of Wilson's writing is often glossed over but shouldn't be.

WARNING SEXUAL CONTENT

If you are wondering how twisted these books are, the "ultimate end" is achieved when a former porn actress, reaches a form of ZEN enlightenment, while in a state of continuous orgasm, from riding a sex machine dildo, made from the taxidermied penis of a transsexual culture writer, who had kept it as her personal dildo, and lost it to a thief.

The vibe this woman sends out into the world is the discordian moment of triumph. The vibe disinhibits the world and causes a true "love in" and moment of self discovery.
