I'm trying to keep a "balanced" frame of mind on this. If you know the book, "The Wizard and the Prophet" about the Green Revolution their point becomes stronger.

They point to "The Limits of Growth" forecasts and how science beat those predictions of mass hunger and starvation. They argue that when there is enough motivation we always "find a way".

It sounds semi-delusional, even cultic. But, a lot of the 20th was us (as a species) confounding the odds. Perhaps we will do it again.

People want to believe this narrative. To them, the history of the 20th proves the validity of their viewpoint.

It's a valid point of view. I just think this time it's not going to happen. There isn't going to be enough time.
