What few understand is that the Trumpublican’s expected to win in 20'. They expected to get an election victory, just like Hitler did, which would have given them cover for what they intended to do.

They had all the pieces in place.

Packed Supreme Court to "legalize" their interpretations of law.

Internal Security forces created through ICE and CBP under Presidential control (Gestapo).

Local police forces polarized and radicalized into being Trumpublican supporters.

Recruitment of "Brownshirt" militias. For "Community Safety" and control.

Creation of camps for the "disappeared". Again, ICE and DHS have created a national gulag of discrete camps they suffle "illegals" around in. Go into that, and you may never be seen again. They might "loose" you.

All the pieces are there. They just needed to win the election. Because they couldn't quite get control over the 800lb gorilla in the house. The military would never support a government that comes to power in an illegitimate method.

They thought they had it. The economy was humming and most Americans vote their pocketbook. Then, out of nowhere, Covid hit.

They botched the Covid crisis so badly it cost them the election. Not by much, 49% to 51%. But that's all it took.

Then they will get busy on the Military. Remember, Hitler had the military swear oaths of loyalty to HIM not the Constitution. I can see DeSantis doing the same.

We are at war. Just because it's not being fought with guns and bombs yet. Doesn't mean it's not happening.
