I wish I had better news. When I started writing about Climate two years ago I was far more hopeful than I am now. So much new information is flooding in and it is all converging around one conclusion.

We were criminally stupid and complacent. We burned fossil fuels without any regulation before we knew how much was safe for the planet.

We just assumed it would be ok, because we all wanted the life it made possible. We did this massive experiment on the planet without discussion, oversight, a vote, anything.

We just did it.

It makes my head hurt when I think about that point for very long. The willful blindness and deliberate hateful, spiteful stupidity of the people who refuse to this day to admit they were wrong, fills me with such anger.

This didn't have to happen. We created our own asteroid. Because that's what this will look like in the geological record 20 million years from now.

Like we got hit by an asteroid.

Anyway, treasure this year. My instincts are telling me it is probably the last year of the old world. The new one starts being born next year. I think it's going to be a violent birth.

My entire life can be described in one sentence: Things didn’t go as planned, and I’m OK with that.
