I was going to say brilliant analogy but Joy beat me to it. You nailed it.

Last year, just before COP26, Nature did an anonymous survey of Climate scientists who work on the IPCC reports. 4 out of 5 think we are going to 2.5C of warming or higher.

Yet the official COP26 proclamation was that they had "kept the goal of 1.5C" alive.

I likened this to 4 out of 5 doctors saying you have cancer and need immediate surgery to have any hope of survival. Then choosing to listen to the guy who says that if you drink probiotic smoothies and lose some weight you will be fine.

The thing is, that guy. The one they are listening to. That's the Climate Science senior people. The Scientists whose careers go back to the 80's. The ones who are absolutely sure Climate Change is a "slow process" that happens on centennial or millennial timescales.

The ones who built their careers on a foundation of sand. The ones whose entire professional lives were wasted if they were wrong.

They are not going to ever admit they were wrong and they are the voice of "Climate Science" at COP27.
