I thought your description of riverine adaptions was really interesting. I had not considered how that might play out.

The problem I have always foreseen is that it will become increasingly harder to do these projects as conditions continue to deteriorate. The "up to your ass in alligators while trying to drain the swamp" conundrum.

We have waited so long to start that now we are fighting against a negative feedback cycle that is becoming stronger each year. We still haven't fixed everything from disasters five years ago while the list of new things to fix is rapidly getting longer.

We need an emergency, wartime level of effort and funding to turn the infrastructure problem around and get ahead of it. All kids from 18-22 should be drafted into a new Conservation Corp and put to work on infrastructure projects.

That's what we should be doing.

We aren't doing that. We are still refusing to see the reality of the situation and trying to manage it in a non-disruptive way.

Most of Biden's "climate project funding" isn't for actual projects. It's tax credits and consumer rebates and low interest loans. Carrots to persuade people to gradually transition to a climate friendly life.

It's not a plan to actually do anything. It's just money to encourage people to buy EV's and put solar panels on their roofs. It's not enough.
