I have a piece where I discuss how we got here. It's less clear cut than many think. We knew NOTHING about the Climate System in 1959. The UN Geophysical year. Just 63 years ago.

Carter knew where things stood. He tried to bend the curve. We elected Reagan in 80 and everything since then has flowed from that.

It's easy to play "gotcha" when using hindsight but we honestly didn't understand until the 90's what the ice core record looked like. Gore and the "hockey stick" was cutting edge at the time.

Our biggest problem is not the science it's the lag required for us to process and respond to new information as a culture.

Climate Change has gotten inside our decision loop. It's happening faster than we can react culturally.
