I hadn't thought about peat fires in Scotland. Yikes, that could be a problem.

Other than that, Scotland could actually be a fairly decent place to be for the rest of the century. It's going to rapidly warm up and is likely to get wetter overall.

Sea level rise and a more active hydro cycle (big storms) is going to cause fallback from coastal areas. But in general, Scotland could be a very good place.

Bonus points for remoteness. Plus you could build a reverse Hadrian's Wall to keep out the hordes of starving Southerners. Lots of hydro potential, access to far northern waters for fishing, and a population that is not that far off from being in balance with the agricultural potential of the landscape.

Scotland would be a way better choice than New Zealand now that I think about it. If I was younger I would seriously be considering emigrating.
