I finished the book. I'm focused when I commit to a book. I really thought it falls apart in the back half.

If you dig into her bio it's clear she makes the bulk of her income doing corporate seminars and workshops. The book is basically an infomercial for her "insight on demand" brain training seminar.

As for that, I found her Left-Right brain dual thinking road to insight method to be a hashed over gloss of Gladwell's "Blink". Yes, you can be trained to make quick decisions that are a gestalt of situation and experience. But...

That's not "insight on demand". That's learning to be decisive. Not the same thing at all. A big part of Gladwell's work is the cautions about how our "blink" impulse of making snap decisions can lead to catastrophic fails.

But what Costa is selling is leadership training.

She's telling you that if everyone used her techniques, and they were taught in schools, our culture would be transformed. I'm sorry, I just don't find her that credible.
