I completely agree with you, it makes no sense. Particularly in light of the paleoclimate evidence.

What we are seeing is a "social failure" in the culture of Climate Science.

The "dominant" faction (Moderates) came up with a model of how the Climate System works in the 70's. It became "mainstream" in the 80's and has been "the science" since then.

Disagreeing with it makes you a heretic and results in your getting "cast out" of the field.

The KEY point of this model, that often isn't appreciated, is that CO2 does not cause ANY "delayed" warming. ALL warming to increased levels of CO2 is immediate.

If that sounds INSANE to you, welcome to the club.
