I agree with you in part. There has definitely been a careful disinformation and misinformation campaign by the Fossil Fuel Elites that has "brainwashed" people. So, you can look at where we are now as the consequence of that.
But, we also have to realistically consider that they have a more appealing message than we do. That people aren't being brainwashed, they just don't like what we are selling.
Honestly, who wouldn't want to live in the techno-paradise of the "Star Trek Scenario"?
That's always been the appeal of fusion power. If we have literally UNLIMITED clean energy everything becomes possible. The entire solar system and inexhaustible resources opens up to us.
All of our problems, even Global Warming, can be fixed if we have cheap easy fusion power. I agree with that position.
So, you can make a credible argument, that the best course of action is to keep doing what we are doing and we will crack this. Just the way we cracked the "food crisis" in the 20th.
The fact that you and I think this is an INSANELY risky thing to do, doesn't necessarily make us right. It's always good to have some humility when trying to understand 'the Other".
I don't agree with their position but I am trying not to see them as enemies and dehumanize them.
