Has she had any firearm training or experience with guns?

If not, make it a priority until she can hit what she shoots at consistently at 30 to 40 feet. That's about the "zone" you would want to shoot someone with a pistol if you had to.

Also, make her clean the weapon after every use. Weapon familiarization is ESSENTIAL.
