Great article. I was plowing through a crop of hoperatti commentary this morning and then your article popped up. The sanity of your points vs the "don't worry be happy" voices of people who are supposed to be realists saved me from day drinking.

Some ass from VOX literally wrote of the AR6 report that "doomism is the biggest threat we face". Arguing that "all of the challenges we face are solvable" as long as we keep believing in "PROGRESS".

Because, "in the entire history of humanity, this is the best possible time to be alive."

Then he gives you this long list of economic, medical, and social metrics to PROVE that everything has gotten better for EVERYONE since 1800. Even in the Global South, which he happily informs us will "catch up" with the developed world if we don't strangle their upward trajectory by "denying" them the energy resources they need.

So, the biggest problem that the World faces is DOOMERS like us shaking people's confidence in the bright future that will inevitably happen. If we all "believe in science" and have faith in human ingenuity.

Now that I know, I'm the PROBLEM. I guess for "the good of us all" I should just shut up and wait for the utopia that's coming.
