Bleak but spot on. This is exactly the situation in the Climate Activist world right now. The "Climate Optimists", who often see themselves as deeply committed to a NetZero world, talk endlessly about how "game changing" advances will get us there.

Their idea of action, is basically shopping for the right things. Buy this product because it's "CLEAN". Shun this company because it's "DIRTY".

They preach that these individual choices, when multiplied millions of times over, will CHANGE THE WORLD and bring on Utopia.

Which is essentially saying that they want the existing system to continue. Just with no inconvenient pollution. They want to have their cake and eat it too.

It's very much of a kind with the "environmental activists" who tell you that we must get to NetZero. But don't you dare ask them to give up air travel. Because travel is a HUMAN RIGHT.

I know I should be allied with them, we sorta want the same end goal. However, I'm finding it harder and harder not to despise them for their hypocrisy.
