Better, more insightful commentary, than most of what's being published in the NYT and WAPO.

I'm trying to do "eye catching" topline comments these days. Sometimes when I open an article, the first thing I do is look at the comments. So, I've decided to start comments with a summary topline.

What do you think?

Moving to your main point. HELL YES, the Elites are starting to get nervous. Most of them are like "Buffet Drafters". They aren't all that smart so they mimic what they see someone "smart" doing.

There is a massive cloud of investors who watch what Warren Buffet does and then do the same thing. They ride along in his draft stream.

The "second tier" Elites are starting to notice that the Ultra Wealthy are quietly making moves with their money. One of the revealing things in the tax haven data dumps (Panama Papers, etc) is that the Ultra Wealthy have been pulling out of Florida and beachfront investments for over 10 years.

Suddenly they are remembering when they derisively stated "I'll believe in Global Warming when the rich stop buying beachfront houses".

Yeah, the Elites are getting nervous.

It's the same reason that there is suddenly a "Green Caucus" among Trumpublicans. Some of them are smart enough to see what's coming.

I'm sure you have seen me use this example before but it's important to remember. I'll relate it to the "Foundation" books at the end.

There are several things to always keep in mind when considering the response of the Elites to the Climate Crisis.

1. They are responsible.

2. They screwed up.

3. They are desperately trying to hide/obscure points 1 and 2.

They are afraid.

In Central America, in the ruins of many of the Classic Maya cities. Right before the end, they built walls.

Not around the city to protect from invasion. Around the Elite residential area. Around the palaces.

In these cities the palace area is usually burned out. We find broken weapons and the unburied bodies of men, women, and children. Right down to the level of infants. Left laying where they fell.

When their Elites couldn't make the rains come. When it was clear that the God's had turned away from them. The last act of "the people" was to slaughter them.

FYI the French Revolution was also caused by Climate Change.

The Elites will say and do ANYTHING to obscure their guilt in what's happening.

In "Foundation" Azimov saw situations like this as civilizational "traps". Rome needed successful, capable generals to sustain itself. But, successful, capable generals almost always tried to become Emperor.

Once generals could seize power, Azimov thought a "death spiral' had begun. Because, how do you get trust back? How do you put the genie back in the bottle?

With Climate Change the Elites are now scared and completely disincentivized to admit anything is wrong. ALL of the signals are now telling them it's time to collect their winnings and lay low for awhile.
