Another significant article from the "other side" of the Climate Crisis. Ms. Alam is an articulate and passionate advocate for the Global 80% who are so often ignored in the discussions around Climate Change.
Her article clearly spells out the embedded racism found in the Western Environmental Movement and Organizations. The "paternalistic" attitude of inherent "First World" superiority that so many who "want to help" start with.
I have seen this myself when living in areas overrun with "White Expats". Retired White Men forming a "Chamber of Commerce" for their "adopted" home and then having the ARROGANCE to assume the "locals" should listen to them.
The inbred, freakish, mutant WHITE 20% of the Global Population needs to stop being the "tail wagging the dog". They need to lay down "the White Man's Burden" that no one asked them to assume, and perhaps contemplate what DEMOCRACY really means.
On the personal level. Having the humility to simply listen to the viewpoints of POC, and "hearing" what they have to say. Would be a good start for most "Palefaces".
