Almost every autistic person I have ever known probably suffered from PTSD or CPTSD. Autistic childhoods tend to be trauma filled. Some more than others, none easy.

Ideally, every autistic person would be screened for PTSD regularly as part of comprehensive health care. They are an extremely 'at risk' population.

Obviously, that's not likely to happen.

Most Autistics, who have their epiphany as adults, seem to have the "click in the head" moment where suddenly their life makes sense. In Niven's book "Protector" (1973) there is a moment when everyone infected by the PAK virus, who becomes a Protector, wakes up and always thinks 'I've been stupid'.

Because, suddenly everything makes sense.

My entire life can be described in one sentence: Things didn’t go as planned, and I’m OK with that.
