Ahh, ethanol. The gift of Bush II to Agribusiness as a way of propping up corn prices.

It soaked up enough corn in the early aughts to cause hunger and food riots in the Middle East. It was one of the causes of the "Arab Spring". Which played out into the Syrian Civil War.

Ethanol, the gift that just keeps on killing.

Biden's doing this is a signal that the situation is bad. Biden has no real convictions or principles. He never has. He has always been about "lets make a deal".

So, my guess would be that this represents a deal made with someone. A short term tactical decision to get something else.

Part of my analysis that we are "in crisis" right now, is that most of the big players are doing what Biden is doing. Making bad short term deals in order to survive long enough for there to be a long term.

It's what you do when the situation is desperate and you fear things are about to fall apart.
